Friday was a soft reopening before opening to the general public on Sunday and customers will find a whole new way of doing business.

“I’m already lucky. I got out of the house. I’m in a safe environment. I’m just hoping to win,” said member David Moore.

“I’m very excited. I’m back at the machine and I’ve been waiting for a while, and look at that, I’m winning,” said member Shlaurence.

Sr. Vice President and General Manager Randy Conroy said reopening has been a long time coming.

“We are very excited. The day we closed on March 16 is when we started thinking about reopening, and 100 days or so later, we are ready,” Conroy said.

Ready with a new way of doing business. It all starts with a high-tech temperature scan at the door which takes your picture with your mask on and then another picture before entering the gaming floor.

“Most people might realize that masks are generally not allowed in a casino, however, we have a new process at the entry point. We have you temporarily lower your mask, we get a great picture of you with our world-class surveillance system and we welcome you inside the casino,” Conroy said.

Once inside, everything is set up for social distancing. Every other slot machine is out of service, table games are at half capacity, and hand sanitizer is everywhere. Every single chip, over 1 million in the casino, has been sanitized. The casino was sanitized every day.

The Horseshoe Casino is doing a phased reopening Friday to top-tiered Caesars Rewards members and Sunday to the public. Quick service meals are available, but right now, only Gordon Ramsay’s steak restaurant is open. Baby steps before one of the biggest weekends of the year -- the Fourth of July holiday.

“We’re ready for it, so bring it on,” Conroy said.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore hosted a grand opening today for its new 10,000 sq. ft. outdoor gaming space called The Terrace. The $15-million project started in April and hosted a soft opening last week.

The gaming terrace was built over the casino’s porte cochere. The Terrace features 174 slot machines, 16 live table games, 15 video poker machines, and a patio bar serving a full range of beverages, cigars, and cigarettes.

The Terrace has openings on the north and south ends and is covered on the other two sides. The space is heated for the winter months and has large fans for ventilation in the summer months.

Horseshoe Casino said The Terrace will create 100 new jobs and General Manager Randy Conroy said they are about halfway through that hiring process.

The existing smaller outdoor gaming decks with slot machines will continue to operate.

In addition to The Terrace, Horseshoe Baltimore recently opened its new Caesars Rewards Experience Center, which is a nearly $1-million renovation of the former rewards counter into a “high-tech interactive engagement space.”

“We’re thrilled to be introducing the market’s premier outdoor gaming facility and its best player loyalty experience center,” said Conroy in a press release. “These projects represent our commitment to continually reinvesting in the guest experience and providing new and unique entertainment opportunities to our visitors. They’re also a critical component in our broader investment in Baltimore, where we are transforming the Southern Gateway into a vibrant destination for fun-seekers from throughout the region.”

Horseshoe Casino is also currently undertaking a $1-million renovation of its first floor food court called Baltimore Marketplace. Currently open is Lenny’s Deli, Piezetta, and Guy’s Bar-B-Que Joint. Additional vendors will be joining the space. Conroy said announcements are expected in the next two weeks.

New entrances and walkways were installed in April so that families with kids could go to GDL Italian and Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen + Bar without entering the gaming floor.
